The Boston Celtics have been waiting for closure with the Doc Rivers situation and that closure may finally be coming on Monday. After canceling a press conference on Friday, which prompted more rumors about a trade to Los Angeles, Doc Rivers may be announcing his intentions on what he plans on doing next season on Monday.

According to The Boston Globe, it’s not expected that a trade will be announced when Rivers and the Celtics meet with the press, rather it will either be the announcement of Rivers returning to Boston to coach at least one more year or it will be the head coach letting the world know he’s stepping away to continue his broadcasting career.

"A decision is expected soon, possibly as early as Monday, when Rivers is expected to return to Boston. … But as it stands, the most plausible options facing Rivers are A) to return to coach the Celtics for a 10th season — he’s under contract with Boston for three more seasons worth a total of $21 million; or B) leave coaching and return to the broadcast booth."

It was stated by Baxter Holmes at the Globe that a trade with the Clippers may not yet be as dead as it seems, but it doesn’t look like enough has happened to warrant a press conference to announce a trade. Besides that, if a trade had been agreed upon it would likely be out in the news cycle by now and that’s not the case.

Still, Celtics fans seem to finally be inching towards the closure they’ve been seeking however with the way things have been going don’t be surprised to see this drama dragged out a little longer.
