2013 NBA Draft: Anthony Bennett Stock Slipping Due to Weight Gain?

NBA teams take weight gain very seriously, which isn’t good news for UNLV’s Anthony Bennett who according to ESPN’s Chad Ford has put on some serious weight in recent weeks – nearly twenty pounds.

Per Ford:

Yes, 261 pounds RT : 261? RT : Bennett 18lbs overweight rt now at 261lbs.

Bennett has been sidelined recently with a shoulder injury and he hasn’t been able to workout which has attributed to some of the weight gain, but a nearly twenty pound gain may scare a few teams away in this Thursday’s NBA Draft.

Many had expected Bennett to be a top four pick but some expert mocks have him slipping as far down as the seventh pick, owned by the Sacramento Kings.

A freshman at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Bennett wowed scouts with his natural athletic ability along with his premier scoring and rebounding skills so weight gain or not, it’s hard to envision much of a slide for the 20 year old power forward.
