With NBA trade rumors heating up, there was some believe that the Minnesota Timberwolves could deal young forward Derrick Williams. While Williams struggled to find his groove early, he improved as the season went on, so you can expect the Timberwolves to hang on to Williams for the foreseeable future despite what the rumors may indicate.

Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor told the Star Tribune:

"“There are teams that have called us and asked us if we are going to trade him, but I think that everybody saw the same thing that you saw, including the coach,” Taylor said. “Once we got him out on the floor and he had a chance to play, he started to play better. We have to remember that he still a very young man and a player that has a lot of potential. So we may trade somebody on our team, but it’s not going to be [him], unless it really would help our team.”"

If the Timberwolves can stay healthy, Williams, Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio would be a solid core of young talent, so it would make little sense for the team to give up on a young talent like Williams after only two years.

Of course, this is the NBA, where craziness happiness.
