Guard Patrick Mills has decided to stay with the San Antonio Spurs for another season. He will earn $1.1 million in the final year of his contract. Aside from the obvious pay day, playing for a quality organization with another a shot at an NBA title has to be appealing.
Not to mention the Spurs have always embraced foreign players like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, Mills is Australian.
For the Spurs they get an affordable insurance policy at point guard if anything were to happen to Tony Parker or Cory Joseph. He isn’t a big contributor to the organization yet. In the playoffs he had mop-up duty and averaged 11 minutes per game in his random appearances last season. but he shot 40% from behind the arc and added 5 points per game and one assist.
He performed better in his brief stint with the Spurs two seasons ago. He scored almost 10 points a game over 16 games played.
Per #Spurs: Patty Mills will not opt out of his contract. He will stay in San Antonio for the 2013-2014 season.
