The Boston Celtics appear to be in no rush to hire a head coach.

After relieving Doc Rivers of his duties, speculation was that the Celtics may have attempted to pounce on Brian Shaw but Shaw was quickly snatched up by the Denver Nuggets yesterday, forcing the Celtics back to the drawing board. Now, according to Steve Bulpett, the Celtics will not only go through Thursday’s NBA Draft without a head coach – they may not have one in place until after the Orlando Summer League.

In the past weeks, former Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn (New Jersey, actually) Nets head coach Lawrence Frank was thought to be a candidate for the job but he’s been giving a standing offer from Jason Kidd and the Nets to become an assistant. In addition to Frank, the Celtics apparently have interest in former Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro who was fired earlier this month.
