Doc Rivers Officially Signs Contract to Become Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach

And the drama that was the Doc Rivers/Los Angeles Clippers saga is over.

Unfortunately, we’re still going to be subjected to Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett rumors for the next few days in Pierce’s case (and probably weeks in the case of Garnett) but Doc Rivers is officially off of the market after signing his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers this afternoon.

Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the official signing:

Doc Rivers has signed his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, league source tells Y! Sports.

Rivers was expected to sign his contract earlier but “language” in the paperwork halted the signing, resulting in just a little more extra drama because that’s exactly what the situation called for.

The contract will pay Rivers $21 million over three years, a hefty price to pay for the normally somewhat frugal Clippers but one well worth shelling out assuming the rumors hold true and Chris Paul re-signs.

He will be introduced tomorrow.
