Both the NBA and NHL have concluded their seasons this past week, but as we look forward to the next sports season of 2013, we have already heard some smack talk. Michigan Quarterback Devin Gardner is confident in his Wolverines to say the least. Yesterday, Gardner was asked on “The Huge Show” on WBBL 107.3 FM how he feels about the Ohio State rivalry and if he feels they can get a win at home against the Buckeyes.
Gardner responded with a guarantee of sorts and stated,
We always have room for improvement, but this is definitely a championship-caliber football team that will win in the Big House against Ohio State.
The rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan has been going on since 1897, with both teams meeting 108 times in that span. The series record is in Michigan’s favor, with the Wolverines winning 58 of those games. The official record for “The Game” is 58-44-6. The two teams will meet again at Michigan Stadium on November 30, 2013.
This is one of the biggest rivalries in sports, and now that Gardner put this added pressure on the Wolverines, all eyes will be on them for this next meeting.
And if it wasn’t enough that Gardner thinks Michigan will beat Ohio State, he also said,
We don’t feel we’re inferior to anyone in the country.
