In nine seasons the Charlotte Bobcats have seven top-10 draft picks. They’ll choose their eighth Thursday, when they have the fourth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. The Bobcats biggest need lies in the frontcourt, where the team ranked last in frontcourt points last season.
They lack the necessary size to control the paint and protect the rim. Alex Len is a legitimate seven-footer, who can be an offensive threat and anchor Steve Clifford’s defense going forward. Nerlens Noel would also improve the Bobcats defensively and athletically, while Anthony Bennett’s scoring prowess at power forward would be a desireable addition too.
There’s an outside shot that they’ll elect for perimeter help with guards Ben McLemore or Victor Oladipo. The Bobcats are facing a lot of pressure this offseason to acquire players who can help get them back into the postseason during the next couple of seasons.
Hitting a home run in this year’s draft would be a great start.
