Nolan Ryan Isn’t Worried About Nelson Cruz

Nolan Ryan, CEO of the Texas Rangers, said that he wasn’t worried if the team lost Nelson Cruz to a suspension following the Biogenesis allegations. Among other players, Cruz could be facing a possible 50 game suspension from MLB.

During an interview on ”Galloway & Company” on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM, Nolan Ryan talked about MLB’s investigation. He said,

I know that they’re in a fact-finding mode right now, so we’ll just have to wait and see how that plays out. But do I worry about losing Nellie here shortly? No, I don’t. I really think he’ll be with us and we’ll just have to see where that goes.

Cruz has become an invaluable player for the Rangers this season, posting team-high stats in both home runs (19), and RBIs (55). To lose him for possibly 50 games could really hurt the Rangers chances of making a deep playoff push, or even the playoffs at all. The investigations may conclude around the All-Star Break, and that’s where we could possibly see suspensions for the 20 or so players involved in the Biogenesis scandal. Although Ryan doesn’t seem to agree, and stated in the interview,

I don’t really expect, as had been rumored from ESPN, that they might do something right after the All-Star break.
