Needless to say, it’s a pretty busy day in the Cleveland Cavaliers front office.
In addition to having the first pick in Thursday’s 2013 NBA Draft, the Cavs are reportedly in deep discussions with the Houston Rockets about acquiring power forward Thomas Robinson.
As if that wasn’t enough, according to Fox Sports’ Sam Amico, the Cavs are also in trade talks with the Dallas Mavericks.
Apparently, the Cavs are working on logistics with the Rockets on a potential Robinson deal while attempting to keep another trade with the Mavericks alive
What exactly the two sides are talking about is unknown, though, despite Mavericks owner Mark Cuban suggesting that they’ve held no discussions about trading Shawn Marion, it’s likely the two sides are discussing just that.
The Mavericks have little interest in drafting a player who will cost them a guaranteed contract and would like to pair their 13th overall pick along with Marion to a team willing to absorb the cap hit, but that would only happen if the Mavericks felt comfortable in their efforts to sign free agent to be, Dwight Howard.
Buckle up. Should be a fun few days.
