Yesterday it was reported that former Chicago Bulls great Scottie Pippen was arrested for assaulting a fan who was ‘seeking an autograph‘. The Los Angeles Police Department eventually came out and said that Pippen was not arrested and that the NBA legend was cooperating with police. In fact, the LAPD even went a step further suggesting that Pippen would not be arrested at all and that there was more to the situation than initially reported:
“Mr. Pippen will not be arrested, there’s more here than meets the eye,” said Whitmore.
He said the investigation was continuing. “We have to investigate and check with all the witnesses and find out exactly what happened,” said Whitmore.
Exactly what happened was the fan apparently called Pippen racial slurs and spit on Pippen, all while the former Bull was holding his daughter.
Per the New York Daily News:
But a source said Pippen was the real victim. The fan started the tussle, spit on the ex-athlete and screamed the called him the N-word, the source said, adding that Pippen was holding his 4-year-old daughter at the time.
More than that, it’s reported the man attempted to get physical with Pippen which lead to the eventual beat down.
