Report: Memphis Grizzlies to Name Dave Joerger Head Coach

Reports came in late Monday night that the Memphis Grizzlies will name Dave Joerger to be their next head’s Kevin Arnovitz had the report, which came as little surprise considering Joerger had been among the favorites for the vacancy since the team parted ways with Lionel Hollins just weeks ago.

It is a great move for the Grizzlies, who are coming off of their most successful season in the franchise’s history.

By promoting Joerger, the team can keep some of the chemistry that they had which resulted in 56 wins and an appearance in the Western Conference Finals.

Memphis is a team that is rapidly rising, and hiring an assistant that has been with the team for six years minimizes any transitional period and should keep the Grizzlies among the top teams in the Western Conference.

I feel bad for Hollins. All he did is take the team farther than it has ever been. I would be surprised if they make the play offs next year. Good luck Lionel, your jersey hangs in the rafters at the Rose garden. You are a champion, and deserve better than how you were treated. I wish you were home in Portland!
Lionel Hollins has an NBA championship ring. I hope he gets another with a team that recognizes talent and not a bunch of statistical putz’s.
