Earlier today it was reported by Marc Stein of ESPN that the Sacramento Kings were attempting to secure an additional first round pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft. In addition to that, Stein hinted that the Kings were using second year guard Jimmer Fredette as bait, reportedly offering the former BYU Cougar to both the Utah Jazz and Indiana Pacers.
However, Sacramento Kings beat writer Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee says that while multiple teams do have interest in Fredette, the Kings are not attempting to trade him.
FWIW: I hear Kings aren’t shopping Jimmer Fredette but teams are interested in him. Goes along w/ what I’ve heard for some time.
Getting a read on Fredette’s NBA ability is difficult. He’s been stuck in a woeful situation in Sacramento behind a now fired coach who refused to play the sharpshooter. With a new ownership group and a new head coach, the Kings may be interested in seeing what the former NCAA Player of the Year award winner could do in a more fluid situation.
