It can be said that one of the top recruits of 2014 won’t be attending Ole Miss. According to some tweets, Marlon Humphrey says that Ole Miss conducts KKK marches “every month.”
This claim started when Humphrey tweeted about his experience when he was at Ole Miss for his brother Maudrecus’ recruiting trip.
Here is another tweet about his claims of the alleged KKK activity.
Humphrey is one of the most sought after recruits, and has been recruited by every school in the SEC. Humphrey, from Hoover, AL, was an Under-Armor All-American as a junior and is on pace to be one of the top overall recruits next year.
I sure hope he realizes how social media can affect a person’s life, because if he doesn’t by now, he better do it soon. Whether these claims are valid or not, I believe that he has changed the people’s perceptions of himself, and I’m not sure if there is a way he can undo it. He made a few attempts to try to retract what he said, but by reading his later tweets, he doesn’t quite say “they didn’t happen.”
This just goes to show how social media can shape the way we perceive people. Marlon Humphrey may be viewed as a racist, and if so, he could lose scholarships and potentially never play football at a higher level.
