Wayne Rooney Transfer Rumors: Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid Interested

England international Wayne Rooney is peaking the interest from Chelsea and La Liga’s top two teams, Real Madrid and Barcelona. After Rooney placed his transfer request earlier in the summer, the initial belief was that the 27-year-old forward would not be for sale, but now there is a possibility with three top teams looking to outbid each other.

According to SunSport, Barcelona is in serious pursuit of Rooney and they are willing to offer $38 million to Manchester United for his services.

The source that spoke with SunSport said that Barca officials view Rooney as the perfect fit for their system and he could replace David Villa, who will likely leave for Tottenham.

“Rooney is precisely the type of attacker that would fit perfectly into the system,” the source told SunSport.“Defense starts from the front at Barca and Rooney works harder than anyone. His first touch, movement, control and vision are phenomenal and if he comes on the market then the club are certain to try to sign him.”
