Trying to trade out of the number one spot in tomorrow’s NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers have offered the pick to the New Orleans Pelicans, this according to Alex Kennedy.
The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to explore their trade options with the No. 1 overall pick, according to sources close to the situation. Cleveland has been very aggressive in their attempt to move the top pick and discussed plenty of scenarios. Cleveland offered New Orleans this year’s top overall pick in exchange for point guard Greivis Vasquez, the No. 6 overall pick and a 2014 first-round pick, according to sources.
Nice as it would be to own the number one overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, it’s a hefty price to pay for the Pelicans as Greivis Vasquez, despite having double ankle surgery this Summer has proven himself to be a very solid NBA point guard and the 2014 draft is expected to be much deeper than the current 2013 Draft. All of that just to move up for five selection spots?
There’s no word on if the Pelicans are willing to accept the said deal but I’d venture to guess they’d pass in its current form, much like the other handful of teams who’ve laughed off the Cavs advances.
