Asdrubal Cabrera is back with the Cleveland Indians after missing three weeks courtesy of a quad strain that landed him on the 15-day disabled list.
Rotoworld reported the news and revealed Cabrera did not need a minor league rehab assignment to boot. Cabrera was playing extremely well before the injury, hitting .254 and recording five home runs.
The return of Cabrera is bad news for John McDonald, who will now be on assignment until further notice. Mike Aviles was filling in as the starting short stop in Cabrera’s absence and will move back to more of a backup role with Cabrera back in the fold.
Cabrera will officially be back in the starting lineup for the Indians by the end of the week. The Indians currently sit at 39-37 as of this writing and could certainly use the offensive firepower Cabrera brings to the plate. Cleveland is 3.5 games back in the AL Central behind the Detroit Tigers, a team sitting pretty at 42-33.
