Miami Heat Will ‘Explore’ Signing Greg Oden

Facing a hefty luxury tax next season, the NBA Champion Miami Heat are looking for cheap talent and who better to come cheaply with potential than former number one overall pick, Greg Oden?

Oden and the Heat apparently have had “mutual” interest in each other and according to Heat team president Pat Riley, the club will “explore” signing the big man.

Per Tim Reynolds:

Riley on Greg Oden: “We will explore that.”

What Riley exactly means by that is unknown though for a team desperate for size and trying to fill out their roster with cheap, serviceable role players, the match makes sense for both sides.

Oden has reportedly looked “amazing” in workouts but we all know how exaggerated those are and it’s unknown if Oden could even play in the NBA again given his health issues. That all said, assuming Oden checks out okay from a health standpoint and even looks like a shell of his former self, I’m sure the Heat would love to bring him. It’s a low risk, high reward that probably wont pay off, but stranger things have happened.
