Vonta Leach has been a sought after free agent of late having the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins and New York Giants all fighting over his services. The Miami Dolphins have emereged as the favorites to sign the fullback. The Miami Herald quoted Leach’s agent Ralph Vitolo saying South Beach was the favorite spot for his agent to bring his talents.
“I think so,” Vitolo said . “I hope so. It’s the right place to be. We’re trying to crunch the numbers.”
The Miami Dolphins lost their star running back, Reggie Bush, to the Detroit Lions in free agency and are looking to replace him with Lamar Miller. Adding a pro bowl fullback to lead the way could help ensure that he is successful.
The New York Giants need a fullback to replace the injured Henry Hynoski and probably would present Leach a better shot at a postseason run.
The edge the Dolphins have over the Giants is the ability to offer a long term deal. The Giants like Hynoski and would likely only offer Leach a one year deal to fill the void while he is injured.
