Dan Bylsma to Coach Team USA in 2014 Winter Olympics

Despite a disappointing end to the season for the Pittsburgh Penguins, their head coach Dan Byslma will be getting a brand new coaching gig for the winter of 2014. According to reports, Bylsma will be coaching the Team USA hockey team for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Penguins general manager Ray Shero will also be involved in the team, along with Nashville Predators general manager David Poile. There is no word on whether or not Gordon Bombay will be involved.

From Kevin Allen of USA Today:

Dan Bylsma will be the head coach of the USA Olympic Hockey team at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

The team will be constructed by Nashville Predators general manager David Poile, while Penguins general manager Ray Shero will be his associate general manager. Brian Burke, who was team USA’s general manager for the 2010 Olympics when the team took home the silver medal, will reportedly be the director of player development.

During his time leading the Pens, Bylsma has a 201-92-25 record and a Stanley Cup win. He has done an incredible job in Pittsburgh and is a big reason for the teams success.

It isn’t an easy job to manage personalities of top superstars, but Bylsma has a lot of experience managing egos and star players thanks to coaching the likes of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.
