NBA Draft 2013: Philadelphia 76ers Trade Glen Rice Jr. To The Washington Wizards

With the 5th pick in the second round of the NBA Draft, the 76ers drafted Glen Rice Jr., a D-League player. Rice led the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to a D-League championship this past season, after being kicked off of the Georgia Tech basketball team in his junior year.

He was then traded to the Washington Wizards for the 38th and 54th picks of the 2013 draft.

During the D-League playoffs, Rice averaged 25 points and 9 rebounds per game.

ESPN’s Chad Ford said this of Glen Rice and the D-League,

He played on the highest level of any player in this draft. As much as we love some of our college teams, a D-League team would exceed even the best college team. The talent level is higher. Not only did he excel, he led his team to the D-League championship and was MVP of the finals.

It’ll be interesting to follow Rice as he ventures into the NBA from the D-League. He seems up to the task, but what do you think? Post in the comments section below and let me know what you think.
