Draft Grade: B-

With the #52 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Wolves selected Lorenzo Brown, point guard from North Carolina State. Brown is a big guard at 6′ 5″, and is an impressive player as far as creating and initiating the offense, averaging 7.2 assists per game with North Carolina State in 2012-13.

Brown isn’t a great shooter, and it’s an interesting pick for the Wolves, as J.J. Barea or Luke Ridnour (one will be traded) will be the back-up point guard for the Wolves in 2013-14, and Brown will likely end up as the third-string point guard, if he even makes the team. It’s difficult to see why Minnesota traded Malcolm Lee away to Golden State for hardly anything at all and took on another point guard, rather than keeping a big, defensive two-guard in Lee.
