Draft Grade: B+

The Washington Wizards drafted Arsalan Kazemi, a forward from Oregon with the #54 pick in the 2013 NBA draft. Kazemi  was immediately traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, who were extremely active in the latter part of this evening’s draft.

Kazemi is an interesting pick from the analytics-savvy, brand-new general manager of the Sixers, Sam Hinkie. Clearly, he had enough foresight to trade the Rice, Jr. pick and receive both Nate Wolters and Kazemi, suggesting he’s fairly high on each player.

Kazemi is a little bit of an odd pick, as a 6′ 8″ power forward, but he did rebound and score at a fairly efficient rate at Oregon last season. He is originally from Iran, and will have a legitimate shot at seeing some playing time on the tanking rebuilding Philadelphia Sixers.
