The Cleveland Cavaliers sent the 2013 NBA Draft into a mild tizzy when they selected Anthony Bennett with the first overall selection. That meant there was a good chance either Nerlens Noel, Alex Len or Ben McLemore would slip to the Bobcats, who picked fourth. Slip they did, right past the Bobcats who ended up drafting Cody Zeller with the fourth overall pick – a selection fans in Charlotte weren’t exactly thrilled with.
Cameras were rolling at the Bobcats Draft Party thanks to DidCharlotteWin.com and when NBA Commissioner David Stern announced the pick, well, you take a look and see for yourself:
Teams are often scrutinized for drafting need over talent and well, I’m not sure what the Cats did here. They needed size, but there was better size. They needed better talent and well, there was better talent.
Hopefully it works out for the Bobcats who are in desperate need of a roster overhaul, but judging by the initial reaction – many apparently don’t think so.
