While it is nowhere near as major as the trade between the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets that will send Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to Brooklyn, the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets have agreed to a trade that will swap big men Darrell Arthur and Kosta Koufos.
It’s a deal that won’t change the landscape of the Western Conference, but it provides depth to both teams.
Nuggets center Kosta Koufos has been traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, two NBA sources confirmed Thursday, in exchange for Darrell Arthur and the 55th pick in Thursday’s draft.
Last season, Koufos averaged 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocked shots per game during his 81 starts, while Arthur had 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 16.4 minutes last season.
While Koufos won’t be a major contributor for the Grizzlies, adding another big body to the mix with Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol is a solid move.
