Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett has been dealing with nerve issues since mid-May that have kept him out of the team’s line up. The team had been hoping Beckett could make a late season return, but Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly passed along the news that Beckett had “a litte bit of a setback” when he felt a bit of tingling in his arm.

Unfortunately for the Dodgers, that little setback turned in to one of the season-ending variety.

From Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times:

Beckett has been struggling this season, as his 0-5 record would suggest.

He has been a major disappointment for the team since joining the team this past summer in the big trade between the Dodgers and Boston Red Sox.

It’s safe to say that this isn’t exactly what the team had in mind whenever they pulled the trigger on the trade.
