In a move that is set to surprise no one, Dallas Mavericks veteran forward Shawn Marion is unlikely to opt out the final year of his contract that is worth $9.3 million. Marion could easily land a multi-year deal in free agency, but he is not willing to take the massive pay cut.
From Marc Stein of ESPN:
Mavs expected NOT to hear from Shawn Marion today. Marion only has to notify them if he’s opting OUT. Team expects deadline to pass quietly

With Marion expected to stay with the team, the trade rumors will continue to focus around him.
It is no secret that the Mavericks are looking to clear as much cap space as possible for their potential run at soon to be free agent center Dwight Howard, so they would like to have Marion’s contract off the books when they move to sign the highly touted free agent center.
For Dallas, they will find a way to make it work, but everything would be easier if they can find a suitor for Marion’s services at his current price.
