With a new franchise logo and money to spend, the New Orleans Pelicans aren’t joking around when it comes to improving their franchise. A draft night trade sent Nerlens Noel to the Philadelphia 76ers which netted the Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday and now, according to Yahoo Sports, they’re going after Denver Nuggets free agent Andre Iguodala.
Per Yahoo Sports’ Marc J. Spears:
Pelicans strongly interested in signing free agent forward Andre Iguodala to join old Sixers teammate Jrue Holiday, sources tell Y! Sports.
Despite their interest, signing Iggy isn’t going to be easy as USA Today’s Sam Amick is reporting a handful of teams are going to make an attempt to sign the former Arizona Wildcat:
Couple free agency tidbits-Teams I’m hearing in the mix for Andre Iguodala: Denver, Hawks, Pistons, Kings, Mavs, Pelicans, Warriors, Rockets
Iguodala along with former Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith top the second tier class of free agents right behind Dwight Howard and Chris Paul. Both should have little problem cashing in given the amount of teams looking to spend money this Summer.
