The New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild have completed a trade. New York has agreed to send Nino Niederreiter to the Wild in exchange for winger Cal Clutterbuck and a third-round pick. The Islanders were hoping to get more for Niederreiter, but they ultimately decided that this package would be enough.

From Newsday’s New York Islanders beat writer Arthur Staple:

Clutterbuck will have natural chemistry in the Islanders line up, thanks to his time in junior league as a teammate of John Tavares.

Last season, Clutterbuck was a physical force for the Wild with 155 hits in 42 games. He added just four goals and six assists.
