The Columbus Blue Jackets enter this years draft with high spirits, not only because they have three drafts picks in the first round, but because of the optimism running through Columbus after a solid run at the end of the season. Even though the Blue Jackets did not make it into the post season they went above and beyond expectations. Fans are also excited by the new GM, Jarmo Kekalainen, known for his keen eye for talent within the draft. Blue Jackets fans are waiting with anticipation for the draft to see just how much they score with three first round draft picks.

The Blue Jackets enter this draft with somewhat strong defensive depth, which means that they will be looking to add some offensive weapons. Jarmo Kekalainen has made it clear in several interviews though that his game plan is to take the best player available. Organizational needs change from year to year, Kekalainen wants to make sure that he drafts the best of the best for Columbus.

Kekalainen has also stated that he may be looking for dance partners to be able to put a deal together that could instantly boost Columbus’s scoring depth or move them up in the draft order. With three first round picks there are countless options available to the Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets fan base is confident that Jarmo Kekalainen will deliver on June 30th. IN JARMO AND JD WE TRUST!
