NHL Draft 2013: Seth Jones Won't Slip Past Nashville Predators at No. 4 Overall

Seth Jones was supposed to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NHL Draft this year but the Colorado Avalanche have other ideas about that. They seem to be locked in on Nathan MacKinnon as the top pick meaning the consensus best player in the draft will be on the board when the Florida Panthers go on the clock with the No. 2 overall pick.

But while he’s likely not going to be the first player taken, Jones is still a top prospect and the Nashville Predators have come out to say that he won’t be making it past them at No. 4 overall.

“Absolutely, 100%, 110%,” Predators GM David Poile said, via The Republic. “I think he is the best player in the draft. That is my, our organization’s opinion as to what he is going to become.”

Poile isn’t alone in thinking Jones is the best player in the draft and he happens to be the best American born player to come through the draft in some years. He’s a defenseman, so it’s not a flashy goal scoring position, but Jones seems to have everything it takes to be a star in the NHL and he looks ready to grow into the role.

But before the Predators mess themselves over the prospect of drafting Jones, they need the Av’s, Panthers,  and Tampa Bay Lightning to all pass on him and not only pass but not trade their pick to a team wanting to move ahead of Nashville to select him.

So basically while the Predators are picking fourth overall tonight, a lot still needs to happen before Seth Jones falls into their laps.
