While there are much bigger names on the market this Summer, few players may be a better addition than Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen.
A tenacious defender, Allen brings with him lockup ability which can turn a sub-par team defense into a perimeter beast, something a handful of teams have taken notice of.
The Memphis Grizzlies have no desire to lose their athletic wing, but they’re going to have to fend off potential suitors like the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks if they want to retain the former Oklahoma State Cowboy.
Per Yahoo Sports:
Memphis will meet with free agent guard Tony Allen shortly after start of free agency, sources tell Y! Pacers, Bucks, Knicks in pursuit.
It’s extremely unlikely Allen would have much interest in Milwaukee and Memphis can offer Allen the most money, assuming they choose to do so. Still, I’d expect both the Knicks and Pacers to put forth a solid effort in their attempts to sign Allen.
Still, solid efforts or not, it’s hard to picture Allen leaving Memphis where he’s played the past three years.
