The Boston Celtics have reportedly been shopping Rajon Rondo around the league after blowing up their team. They lost head coach Doc Rivers and sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets in a trade.

Dallas Mavericks fans were ecstatic to see their front office pursuing Rajon Rondo in a trade, they’ve struggled to find a point guard to fill the void created when Jason Kidd left. However now we learn what Boston’s asking price is, Mavericks’ face of the franchise Dirk Nowitzki.

Marc Stein said on ESPN.com:

Said one source briefed on Dallas’ quickly rebuffed attempt to engage the Boston Celtics in trade talks for point guard Rajon Rondo: “Danny [Ainge] telling them that they’re only interested in Dirk [Nowitzki] is his way of saying: ‘You don’t have enough to get in the game.’ “

The Dallas Mavericks have no interest in trading Dirk Nowitzki, especially for Rajon Rondo. Dirk Nowitzki is part of the contingent the Mavs are bringing to Los Angeles to woo free agent Dwight Howard.
