One of the more intriguing potential pairings from early on in the free agency period comes from the Motor City. It was being reported that the Detroit Pistons had initial talks and interest with free agent Josh Smith in a move that was immediately met with skepticism on social media, but it looks like the two sides could be working on finding a common ground for a potential deal.

From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

Smith would be a very odd option for the Pistons and the move could be a real disaster for the team if they look to play him at the two guard.

People will be watching this situation closely to see if the two sides make any process. If they do, all eyes will be on Detroit to watch the train wreck that would be sure to take place next season.

Free agency kicked off just after midnight, so be sure to stay tuned to FanSided.com throughout the free agency period as we keep you up to date with the latest news and rumors from around the league.

  • Josh Cheeze Cole

2 guard, maybe you should think before you type. They just drafted KCP. The 3 is their biggest hole and they feel he can play the 3 and 4 even 5 if we wanna go small ball.

  • Chris Wyman

    they’re gonna trade Monroe

  • DFORD

Why would the pistons play Josh Smith at two guard and they just drafted one not to mention they still have Rodney Stuckey? Josh would play the 3 or 4 where he is more than qualified, and that’s depth without any drop off at the 4. Sound like they hating on the Pistons already! Must mean they doing something right!
