Golden State Warriors Put David Lee On Trade Block

We heard earlier that the Warriors were considering trading David Lee, that no longer seems to be a thought.

From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

“The Golden State Warriors  are exploring trade opportunities for All-Star forward David Lee and the three years, $44 million left on his contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.Lee, 30, is a popular and well-respected player within the Golden State franchise but his contract is considerable, and moving him for a star – or a player on a shorter deal – makes financial sense.”

David Lee suffered an injury that should’ve ended his season but he made it back to play in the postseason. However, that might have been just to make his trade value better this offseason as opposed to hoping he would actually contribute to a team competing in the playoffs.

But their succsss in the playoffs with out him showed that he was expendable and creating salary cap space is a must.
