Golden State Warriors Tried To Trade David Lee For Andrea Bargnani

Andrea Bargnani was traded to the New York Knicks, but the Golden State Warriors had also offered a package to the Toronto Raptors, one that involved David Lee.

Golden State offered Lee in a package for Toronto’s Andrea Bargnani, sources said, but the Raptors made a deal with the New York Knicks to shed the final two years, $22.5 million on Bargnani’s contract.

The Warriors are exploring trading options for Lee, and it seems that the team had every intention to send him to Toronto in return for Bargnani.

While Lee had another decent season and made the All-Star game, it’s understandable that Golden State is looking to move the forward. When Lee went down in the playoffs, the Warriors played a lot better and thrived playing with a small lineup that could stretch the floor. While Bargnani would be a risk to take on, he could potentially have been a great fit next to sharpshooters Klay Thompson and Steph Curry.

The Raptors probably wouldn’t have minded to have Lee on the team, but the offer they got from the Knicks was also very good, especially considering the draft picks the team got in return.
