Despite a meeting that went very well for Josh Smith with the Detroit Pistons just after the start of free agency in the wee hours of the morning, the Altanta Hawks free agent is set to meet with his current team and the Houston Rockets on Monday.

From Marcus Spears of Yahoo! Sports:

Smith could be a solid player in the right situation, but teams need to be wary about sinking big money in to him as a free agent.

Atlanta already knows what they would be getting in Smith, so perhaps they would be the best options for his services. For the Rockets, they are looking for role players that can compliment Dwight Howard and Josh Smith doesn’t seem like one of those players.

Free agency kicked off just after midnight, so be sure to stay tuned to FanSided.com throughout the free agency period as we keep you up to date with the latest news and rumors from around the league.

Josh Smith and Dwight Howard have been friends since their childhood days. They bond just fine and Smith is a perfect compliment to Howard, defensively. Weak-side defense, J.Smith will take care of that. On the offensive side, Josh can easily clean up Howard’s missed shots around the rim and serve as a facilitator in the post to feed Harden and Parsons as well as create his own shot.

The signing of J.Smith will cement Howard commitment to the Rockets. Don’t be surprise if Howard call off the meetings with Dallas, the Lakers and Golden States if J.Smith already sign with the Rockets. Once it happens, all J.Smith has to say is:

“Hey Dwight, come to the Rockets, bro. I’m here. I already signed.” And that be the END to his Lakers Nightmare!

What about Kyle Korver??? All I hear is Brooklyn has him. Not a word in the Atlanta papers. Are the Hawks going to let him go that easily while wasting their time on the “big baby”?
