The Los Angeles Lakers have met with a former player of theirs, forward Matt Barnes. Matt Barnes has said that his first inclination is to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers could use the extra depth at small forward, especially if Earl Clark doesn’t decide to re-sign.
Matt Barnes is a candidate for some kind of mid-level exception deal: a mini at $3.2 million or a full at $5.2 million. For Barnes the amount of money could be the difference in where he signs when he has two hometown, and former, teams bidding for your services.
Any deal between the Los Angeles Lakers and Matt Barnes wouldn’t be able to become official until July 10th But from the limited information we have been given it is hard to know what the sides discussed and how they’re feeling.
