NBA Free Agency 2013: Brooklyn Nets Reach Out to Marco Belinelli

It’s expected that the Brooklyn Nets will attempt to sign former Atlanta Hawks gunner Kyle Korver, but may have a backup option if they’re unable to nab the former Creighton product.

According to Alex Kennedy and Eric Pincus, the Nets have reached out to Marco Belinelli in case they’re unable to sign Korver.

Per Kennedy:

The Nets reached out to Marco Belinelli, source tells @EricPincus. He may be Plan B if Kyle Korver is too expensive

The Nets wont have much money to spend in free agency, so Korver would essentially be joining the Nets on a similar salary from this past season where he made $5 million dollars. He was hopeful to get a raise, but he may opt to take a shot at a ring as opposed to making a few extra dollars.

If he does opt for the money, Belinelli would be a solid addition for the Nets. A quality three point shooter, Belinelli played important minutes for the Chicago Bulls this past season where he flourished in limited starts.
