The Memphis Grizzlies would probably love to have Tony Allen back on the team next season, but the defensive ace is garnering some interest around the league. According to Sam Amico, the Milwaukee Bucks are interested in adding Allen to their backcourt.
The Portland Trail Blazers are also reported to be in heavy pursuit of the NBA All-Defensive First Team member. The list seems to go on, but the Bucks could be a potential suitor.
It’s really no surprise that a lot of teams are interested in Allen. Terrific perimeter defenders are great to have on your team, and if they lack offensive talent, which Allen does, that only means that signing him will be significantly cheaper. The Bucks could lose both Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings in free agency this summer, and adding a veteran defender wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. Besides — the Bucks have a lot of cap space and as the team will inevitably enter a rebuilding stage, they could afford to pay Allen a little more than the competition.
