The Oklahoma City Thunder are ready to hone in on going after free agent guard Dorrell Wright. With a free agent of their own in Kevin Martin receiving plenty of interest in the open market, Oklahoma City needs to explore some potential back up plans. For the Thunder, that appears to be Wright.
Oklahoma City has begun an aggressive pursuit of Philadelphia free-agent guard Dorell Wright, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Wright, 27, averaged 9.2 points in 72 games for the Sixers a season ago.
The Thunder are working to stay below the luxury tax threshold this season, searching for bargain contributors able to spread the floor and make shots.
The interest in Martin likely means that the asking price will be driven so high that the Thunder won’t be comfortable spending the money to match. If that is the case, then Wright would be a very solid back up plan.
