NBA Free Agency 2013: Charlotte Bobcats Interested in Al Jefferson of Utah Jazz

The Charlotte Bobcats are in need of a handful of things, but few more than a franchise face and a big man with an inside game.

They’re hoping they can snag both in Al Jefferson of the Utah Jazz.

According to CBS Sports’ Ken Berger, the Charlotte Bobcats are expected to make a run at the Jazz’s power forward:

As FA opens, the Charlotte Bobcats are pursuing Jazz forward Al Jefferson, a league source tells @CBSSports.

The Bobcats have long needed an offensive presence in the post, something Jefferson would most certainly be a great asset in. Unfortunately, Jefferson is something of a turnstile on the defensive end and paying Jefferson the type of contract he’ll demand is a questionable decision at best.

With Bismack Biyombo, Brendan Haywood and Tyrus Thomas as the lone big men on the roster, it’s more of a matter of when the Bobcats sign a power forward or center, not if.

Jefferson, a nine year NBA veteran is still only 28 and wont turn 29 until late November.
