The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be dead set on improving their backups.
A handful of injuries last year exposed the Lakers iffy bench and the Lakers have put out feelers to a handful of players through the first hour plus of NBA free agency.
Earlier tonight it was reported that the Lakers were interested in swingman Carlos Delfino and now, according to multiple sources the Lakers have contacted the representation of both Nick Young and Francisco Garcia. From what we’ve heard, the interest is mutual.
Per Dave McMenamin:
The Lakers have inquired about L.A. native Nick Young, according to agent Mark Bartelstein. They had interest in Young last summer as well
The Lakers attempted to sign Young last year as well, who played in Philadelphia.
In addition to Young, the Lakers are interested in long time Sacramento Kings guard/forward Francisco Garcia who was traded to the Houston Rockets in a deadline deal this past February.
Garcia, in addition to providing an all around game is known for his veteran locker room presence and could provide an additional voice of reason in the locker room with Kobe Bryant.
