The Orlando Magic have a young roster with a lot of up-and-coming players. When you have a lot of players who will likely develop, it’s often a good idea to not bring in a veteran that would send a young prospect to the bench and hinder him from making progress. Magic GM Rob Hennigan is fully aware of this, and it seems that the team will not look to be active in free agency this summer.
“I would say that I wouldn’t envision us making a huge splash this summer,” Magic general manager Rob Hennigan said. “We’ll probably swim in the kiddie pool.”
There you have it. Orlando will let the young players develop and allow the team to grow. However, that doesn’t mean that trades are out of question. Arron Afflalo has been linked with the Los Angeles Clippers, even though the talks have seemingly slowed down and the deal involving Eric Bledsoe is on the shelf at this point in time. The Magic added Victor Oladipo through the draft, so trading Afflalo in order to make Oladipo a starter at the two-guard spot wouldn’t be a terrible idea.
