New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has been absent from the team for workouts during the early going of the offseason, but it looks like a breakthrough could soon be made and Cruz may be making an appearance for the team’s training camp later this month.

According to reports, Cruz and the Giants are close to agreeing to a long-term deal that would get him to suit up for camp.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter passed along the news from his colleague Chris Mortensen:

The Giants will report to training camp on July 26, so the two sides still have more than three weeks to iron out a long-term deal. With the reports beginning to surface that a deal will be done before the veteran report date for training camp, you have to believe that the two sides are making significant progress.

If the contract talks hit another snag, the team will be fine moving forward with Rueben Randle, who has been a standout during minicamps and OTAs, moving forward.
