Homer Bailey, who also had the MLB’s last no hitter on September 28th, has thrown a no hitter against the San Francisco Giants at Great American Ballpark.
The Giants’ 2013 season has been a big disappointment after they won the World Series in 2012. Nowhere was that more pronounced than in their loss to the Cincinnati Reds on July 2nd, where they failed to get even a single hit against Homer Bailey. In fact, Bailey had a perfect game going through 6 before a Gregor Blanco walk broke that up.
The Reds’ Bailey has been sensational this season, going 5-6 with a 3.60 ERA (with an even better 2.77 FIP/ 2.99 xFIP and 2.5 WAR) to go along with his second career no hitter.
Bailey, who fanned 9 and walked just one needed 109 pitches to complete the game. It is the 280th no-hitter in MLB history.
