Minnesota Timberwolves Sign Chase Budinger to Three Year, $16 Million Dollar Contract

San Diego native Chase Budinger only played 23 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, but his quarter of a season with the Wolves was enough to impress their brass.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Timberwolves have agreed to a contract with their free agent.

Per Wojo:

Chase Budinger has reached agreement on a three-year, $16 million deal to return to Minnesota, league source tells Y! Sports.

Some have suggested that the signing of Budinger will hurt the Wolves chances of signing a player out of free agency, but that shouldn’t be the case. The Wolves could still sign restricted free agent Nikola Pekovic and another player like O.J. Mayo/Kevin Martin if they renounced some rights.

Overall, it’s a pretty fair deal given the contract handed out to Martell Webster earlier in the day by the Washington Wizards.

The potential Budinger deal should all but end any talk of Andrei Kirilenko returning to Minnesota though. While they have expressed interest in having Kirilenko return, recent rumors have AK-47 interested in playing for the San Antonio Spurs.
