Currently a free agent, O.J. Mayo is looking for a team and could very well be interested in returning home to Los Angeles where the Clippers would be more than welcoming.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, both Mayo and Clippers head coach Doc Rivers will meet for lunch today where Rivers hopes to sell Mayo on a return to Los Angeles.

Per Broussard:

Unfortunately for the Clippers, they simply don’t have the available cash to sign Mayo free and clear so they’ll need to work with the Dallas Mavericks in a sign and trade scenario. It’s been reported that the two sides have been discussing a potential swap which would land Eric Bledsoe in Dallas, something the Mavericks would probably have interest in given Bledsoe’s small salary. Of course, the Mavericks who want to be players in free agency next year as well would be dealing with Bledsoe’s upcoming restricted free agency so they may in turn end up trying to flip Bledsoe if acquired, but it’s better than getting nothing if Mayo wants to depart.
