The Sacramento Kings have spent the past half decade trying to find themselves a starting point guard. Their search has lead them to former Toronto Raptor and current Detroit Pistons guard, Jose Calderon.

According to HoopsHype, the free agent will meet with the Sacramento Kings today – a destination which could prove to be a wonderful fit for the Spaniard.

Free agent point guard Jose Manuel Calderon will meet with the Kings today in Sacramento, agent Mark Bartelstein told HoopsHype.

Owner Vivek Ranadive, general manager Pete D’Alessandro, head coach Mike Malone and Chris Mullin will be at the meeting with the Spanish guard, who returned to the United States yesterday. His stay in the country will be short as Calderon will be back in Spain in just a couple of days.

In prior seasons, the Kings had been rumored to be interested in Calderon though that was under the previous ownership group.

Known for his impressive passing skills, Calderon would open the floor for a team in desperate need for a distributor but his iffy (at best) defense may lead the Kings to look elsewhere.
