NBA Free Agency 2013: Sacramento Kings Willing to Give Andre Iguodala Max Contract?

The Sacramento Kings are lusting over Denver Nuggets free agent Andre Iguodala so much that Mark Heisler is reporting the Kings may be willing to offer the former Arizona Wildcat a max contract.

Per Heisler:

Don’t worry if you’re confused, #NBA GMs right w/you. Bidding fever sees Kings think about maxing out Iggy after #Pelicans offer Tyreke $44M

On the surface, it seems like an awful deal for the Kings who have already met with Iguodala. However, the Kings still are paying John Salmons, who can be amnestied meaning Iguodala wouldn’t make such a huge dent in the Kings’ team payroll. It’s also possible that the Kings, obviously moving on from Tyreke Evans in the said scenario, could attempt to send the former Memphis Tiger to Denver in a sign and trade though that would take Evans approval, of course.

It seems as if Sacramento would need to overpay to lure the All-Star to the California capital, but at a max contract price point? That’s a risky proposition.
